Just wanted to add that I have written on our LEP students’ program service plans ( the instructional plan) that teachers should have individual students record their ideas before writing. The feedback that I have gotten from administradors and fellow ESL teachers is that I am asking and expecting too much from mainstream teachers to try and track down individual tape recorders for this process. I am so glad that this recommendation is coming from you all as well. With students that have a high BICS, tape recording their thoughts as a pre-writing activity has proven very successful for the few teachers that are implementing this technigue. Again, thank you to the other great writing tips and handouts.
